Vizcaya Sacramento Wedding
Jazz and Dominic invited me to capture their Vizcaya Sacramento wedding, which was actually a two-day affair. The first day was more solemn and traditional. Jazz and the bridesmaids woke up super early in the morning (2:30AM, by some accounts) in order to finish their preparations on time. This kind of preparation is not unusual for Indian weddings. When I arrived to capture the bride’s preparations, a beautiful, cool sunrise was in progress. The Sikh ceremony at the Sikh Temple Gurdwara Sahib West in Sacramento was scheduled for 9AM.
Vizcaya Sacramento Wedding
Dominic and his groomsmen got ready at the magnificent Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento. In the courtyard of the Gurdwara, the two families exchanged garlands before proceeding to a ceremonial breakfast. The ceremony that followed was full of color, music, and time-honored traditions. After the ceremony, the wedding party mustered all of their remaining energy for a photoshoot around downtown and near the capitol. We did an urban walkabout, checking out the cool graffiti and brick walls around the hotel. Even though her day began in the wee hours of the morning, Jazz looked radiant.
The second day was an elegant affair at the Vizcaya. Sacramento wedding festivities have never looked better. The mansion was meticulously decorated – the bride and groom though of every detail and spared no expense. Guests gathered in the courtyard for a welcome reception. The party itself was excellent, and the dance floor was packed. The evening rewarded us with a spectacular sunset – a perfect end to an incredible weekend.
Towards the very end of the evening, the couple and a handful of guests came outside to play with sparklers. In the near darkness, we experimented with some long exposure shots. Everyone was thrilled with the results!
I am very grateful to have documented Jazz and Dominic’s Vizcaya Sacramento wedding!
